The "New" Tacoma Taxi Cabs will be much better for the environment. Are passengers so easily ready to sacrifice spaciousness and leg-room for a more eco-friendly vehicle?
Majority of current taxi cab vehicles on the road today are Ford Crown Victoria, which have 4.5 liter V8 engines. However those alleged "gas-gudanzzling" V8's are available in a more environmentally friendly Natural Gas (con)version.
Many of you may have noticed that there haven't been any Chevy Sedans being used as cabs for about 10 years now. Maybe Chevy will be able to provide the taxi industry with an eco-friendly as well as "spacious" sedan. Is this possible? There are currently several Chevy Venture Cabs patrolling the streets of Seattle providing wheel chair access to patrons.
In conclusion, and in a nut shell, the Tacoma Taxi is making an imminent transition. Just less than 2 years ago the world famous Tacoma Taxi was a simple yellow-colored vehicle with an advertisement on the roof (not all cabs have ads on the roof) and a meter on the dashboard and nothing more. Today it is slowly transforming into a high-tech, hybrid, credit-card accepting, Navigation/ GPS providing futuristic automobile roaming the streets of Seattle, ready, willing and able to provide a little less room, guzzle a little less gas and get you to your destination a little bit slower.
